William Mark Thompson

May 17, 1959 ~ April 11, 2020 (age 60)


    William Mark Thompson, 60, of Carmi passed away at 3:55 p.m., Saturday, April 11, 2020 at his residence.  He was born in Hammond, IN on May 17, 1959  the son of Kenneth and Myrtle (Varner) Thompson.  Mark married Lois Malzac on February 14, 1988 and she preceded him in death on September 24, 2017. He was a retired Lineman for the City of Carmi and a member of Concord United Methodist Church.

    Mark is survived by four daughters, Donna (Hugh) Unfried, Cheryl (Alan) Burnett, Becky (Terry) McCormick and Melissa (George "Tom") Churchwell all of Carmi; 11 grandchildren, Courtney (Brandon Desper) Newberry, John (Laura) Goemaat, Levi Williams, Hunter Williams, Chad Burnett, Elizabeth (Tyler) Bleeks, Amanda (Kevin) Farrar, Alexa Churchwell, Justin (Stephanie) Burnett, Kyle Burnett and Derek Burnett; 9 great-grandchildren, Emeree Desper, Aiden Desper, Tyler Goemaat, Natalie Goemaat, Ian Goemaat, Parker Burnett, Zoe Hull, Hallie Burnett and Mollie Burnett.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Kathy Thompson and two brothers, Chester and Allen Thompson.

Due to the National COVID-19 crisis and mandate on gatherings, service for Mark Thompson will be private with burial in North Maple Ridge Cemetery in Carmi. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Pets At Risk in Mark's memory.
