Morris Hughes

Morris Wayne Hughes, age 92, of Evansville, Indiana (formerly Crossville, Il), passed away on June 6, 2020, at Gateway Hospital. He was born May 4, 1928, in Crossville, Illinois, the son of the late Edgar E. Hughes & Nora Belle Langford Hughes.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 70 years, Margaret Hughes of Evansville, his children, Ronald W. Hughes of Brownsburg, Indiana and his wife, Rachel, and Brian D. Hughes of Kokomo, Indiana and his wife Darla; Also, four grandchildren, Brittany Hughes, Brianna Thiede, Bethany Hughes and Brad Hughes, along with ten great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister, one grandchild and one great-child.

He was a retired production supervisor and 34-year employee for Mobil Oil Company (formerly Superior Oil Co.) and was a combat veteran of the Korean Conflict. Wayne was a committed Christian for 70 years who actively served in the church throughout his life. He was known as a faithful husband, a loving father, a dedicated employee and he will be remembered for his calm demeanor, easy-going spirit and for being a great papaw.

The Celebration of Life will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2020 in the Apostolic Bible Church in Poseyville, Indiana, 9808 New Harmony Road. Public visitation will begin at 12 p.m. in the church. There will be a brief public graveside service at 4 p.m. at Stokes Chapel Cemetery southwest of Crossville, IL.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army, 1040 N. Fulton Ave. Evansville, Indiana 47710-1856. Donations will also be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi who is in charge of arrangements.
