Marian Cantrell

Marian Elizabeth (Berger) Cantrell passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi, IL.  Marian was born on November 3, 1928,  to Harold and Elsie (Erwin) Berger in Wellington, KS.

Marian attended Carmi Township High School.  She married Royal Cantrell on February 15, 1947.  Marian was a homemaker and stay-at-home mom.  She was a 4-H leader and kept books for the family oil business, Royal Drilling.  When her children were grown, she went on to earn her GED from Wabash Valley College.  In their retirement, Marian and Royal enjoyed traveling to Mexico, entertaining friends, playing cards, and fishing.  Marian also enjoyed sewing, especially making things for her family.

Marian is survived by daughter Candi (Richard) Elliott and sons Jim (Suzanne) Cantrell and Jeff (Lynn) Cantrell; grandchildren Graden Elliott, Austin (Liz) Elliott, Chris (Jen) Cantrell, Cory (Rhonda) Cantrell, Tina (Shon) Mosier, Tracy (Brian) Orr, and Kelsey Cantrell; great-grandchildren Dylan, Nikki, Ian, Kingston, Eleanor, Eli, Norah, Matilda, and Rigby; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Royal, her daughter, Kay, two brothers, and one sister.

A Celebration of Life will be held  for Marian Cantrell  at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Carmi. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until time of service at Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Carmi. Contributions can be made in Marian's memory to Emmanuel United Methodist Church Building Fund and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, who is in charge of arrangements.
