Loretta Hillyard

Loretta June (Plock) Hillyard, 73, of Norris City, passed away on Wednesday May 12, 2021.  She was born on January 17, 1948, the daughter of William Herman and Laura Laverne (Wade) Plock.  Loretta married Robert Hillyard on December 23, 1966.  She was the owner and operator of Hair Happenings, where she did hair for 20 years. Loretta was a very active member at Ditney Ridge Baptist Church. She was always active, and taught Sunday School .  She enjoyed decorating, hosting family dinners, camping and reading.

Loretta is survived by her husband Robert "Bob" Hillyard; two sons, Michael (Jessica) Hillyard of Evansville, IN. and Steven (Michelle) Hillyard of Carmi, IL.; her daughter, Jayme (Bryan) Cowling of Carmi, IL., along with 11 children the couple foster parented; eleven grandchildren, Chayce and Ashtyn Cowling, Madison Hillyard, Brady Minton, Alix MacDonald, Courtney Hargrove, Shyla, Ahdom, Tori, Zane, and Makayla Hillyard; one great-grandchild, Everleigh Hillyard ; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Linda Staton and Patsy Murdach; and three brothers, Darrell Eugene Plock, Carroll Dean Plock, and Herman Curtis Plock.

Funeral Services for Loretta Hillyard will be at  2:00 p.m. on Sunday May 16, 2021, at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, with burial at West Union Cemetery in Carmi.  Family and friends can visit from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday May 15, 2021, at Campbell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Loretta's memory to Brownsville School or to the Farming God's Way mission in Haiti and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home who is in charge of arrangements.
