Harvy D. Brinkley, 89, of Norris City passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 10:05 p.m., at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, IN. He was born on December 12, 1931 in Equality, IL the son of John Claude and Mae Victoria (Black) Brinkley. Harvy married Amelia "Tootie" Douglas on July 12, 1959 at Prospect Church in Broughton. He had worked as an over the road truck driver for USAC and later went on to own and operated Harvy Brinkley Dozer Service. Harvy faithfully served his country in the United States Marines during the Korean War. He achieved the rank of Second Lieutenant and was also awarded a Purple Heart.
Harvy is survived by his wife of 62 years, Amelia "Tootie"; seven children, Mike (Libby) Brinkley of Cottonwood, Patricia "Trish" (Jerry) Pankow of Potomac, IL, Richard (Donna) Brinkley of Norris City, Charles (Dusty) Brinkley of Norris City, Robert (Susan) Brinkley of Broughton, James (Traci) Brinkley of Carmi and Matthew (Emily) Brinkley of Norris City; Tootie's siblings who are like his own children and helped raise, Don Carpenter and Margie Raun; 25 grandchildren, Sarah Beaver, Amanda Fulkerson, Amy Finley, Jessica Skidmore, Colton Baldwin, Jennifer Brinkley, Allison Vanover, Emily Mitchell, Richie Brinkley, Brooklyn Naas, Colby Payne, Kyle Brinkley, Kalin Brinkley, McKenzie Taylor, Andrew Brinkley, Austin Brinkley, Patryc Brinkley, Nathan Mugge, Rebecca Brinkley, Maggi Fowler, Ethan Brinkley, Jenna Brinkley, Carter Brinkley, Campbell Brinkley and Case Brinkley; 31 great grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Margaret Willis-Beeler of Ridgway. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Timothy Brinkley and a great granddaughter, Claire Beaver.
Funeral services for Harvy D. Brinkley, 89, of Norris City will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City. Burial will be in New Prospect Cemetery near Broughton with full military honors. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City.
