Gladys McKinney

Gladys I. McKinney, 88, of Carmi, passed away at 2:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. She was born on August 22, 1930 the daughter of George and Elsie (Brown) Smedley of Donora, Pennsylvania. She had recently moved to Illinois from Bell Vernon, Pennsylvania.

Gladys is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Alan) Kreps, of Carmi; three sons, John McKinney, Jeff McKinney and Scott McKinney, all of Dayton, OH; seven grandchildren, Alison Kreps, Brian Kreps, Jason McKinney, Erin Ranta, Justin McKinney, Kristin Stucke and Kaitlin McKinney; eleven great-grandchildren, Morgan, Lauren, Juliann, Owen, Tyler, Lacy, Kai, Thomas, Jackson, Colin and Josie and one great-great granddaughter, Gwendolyn, all of which she loved dearly as they did her.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, John T. McKinney, five brothers, Lester, Bill, Ralph, Raymond and Harold Smedley and two sisters, Mary Lou Smedley and Charlotte Matsick.

Service for Gladys will be held on May 25, 2019 at the West Newton Cemetery in West Newton, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi is in charge of local arrangements.
