Dana Smith

Dana Gail Smith, 80, of Norris City passed away at 10:47 p.m., Friday, November 26, 2021 at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, IN.  She was born in Brownsville, IL on January 13, 1941 the daughter of Leamon and Adella (Hendrix) Midkiff. Dana  graduated from Norris City Omaha High School in 1959.  She married Billie Ray Smith on April 23, 1960.  Dana was a member of the Norris City Christian Church. She enjoyed cooking but her greatest joy was spending time with her family and playing with her grandchildren.

Dana is survived by her husband of 61 years, Billie; three children, Brett Ray (Darlene) Smith of Mt. Carmel, Derek Lenn (Jamie) Smith of Norris City, and Sonya Gail (Brian) Smith of Newburgh, IN; eight grandchildren, Mallory Redel, Devin Smith, Brittany Ramsey, Hilary Vineyard, Matthew Kincaid, Claire Kincaid, Kyle Smith and Lilly Smith; five great-grandchildren, Stryder Ramsey, Rylan Ramsey, Lyla Vineyard, Noah Vineyard, Flynn Redel; two sisters, Faye Thomas of Harrisburg and Esther Coupel of Norris City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings, Ernest Midkiff, Ozna Midkiff, Thomas Midkiff, Virginia Remes, Denver Midkiff, David Midkiff and James Midkiff.

Funeral services for Dana Gail Smith, 80, of Norris City will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City.  Burial will follow in Union Cemetery in Norris City.  Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City.  Memorial contributions may be made in Dana's memory to the Norris City Christian Church and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City.
